Before you buy

Quick check

Dial *#06# on your phone. If an EID number appears, your device supports eSIM. Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked to install a travel eSIM.

Commonly supported devices

Support depends on the model and where it was sold, so always confirm with your phone’s manufacturer. As a general guide:

  • Apple iPhone: iPhone XS, XS Max and XR and newer. Some models sold in mainland China do not support eSIM.
  • Samsung Galaxy: Galaxy S20 series and newer, plus recent Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models.
  • Google Pixel: Pixel 3 and newer, with exceptions for some regional versions.
  • Tablets and laptops: some iPads and Windows laptops with cellular support eSIM.

If your phone is locked

Ask your carrier to unlock your phone before you travel. A locked phone may refuse to install a different carrier’s eSIM.
